IS THIS NOT THE CUTEST CHEESEBURGER YOU’VE EVER SEEN IN YOUR LIFE?Īnd now it’s time to share the other 80+ really awesome handmade costume ideas with y’all!Ĥ. It turned out much better!Īlong with my Princess Wedding Dress Costume, I’m sharing 88+ more really awesome handmade costume ideas from talented bloggers everywhere! I just added some button holes to lace it through. In the picture I used ribbon loops for the lace, but I changed that after the pictures. Put right sides together, insert your straps (taking into account how long it should be to lace it and tie a bow at the bottom) sew around the edges and turn right side out. I removed the straps from the muslin cut out and gave it a strapless look. I used a tank top as a template, trace it on some muslin and cut out, keep in mind you are only going half way around since it is backless. I don’t have pictures for the top I made, but I’ll walk you through my process: If you want it more fluffy, add another layer. Repeat this all the way around the bottom of the headband, then do two more layers, working in the space about the “skipped” holes on the previous layer. Play with it a little, the knot looks different depending on if you pull the tulle through the front or back. You will be able to see what I mean when you are making it. You might have to help feed it through or it will just suck the headband in. The pull the tail end of the tulle through the loop. Once it’s cut, fold it in half and insert the folded end through one of the spaces in the headband. You can also buy it on a spool to help eliminate some cutting, but the cost is higher. Then I tied a piece of tulle in every other space of the headband, and I went 3 layers high, so depending on your headband and how long it will be you can figure out roughly how much tulle you will need. (You will be folding it in half to tie the knot – this is why you double it). Determine the length you want, I measured from the floor up to the waist, then double that. I’ll share with you how you can figure that out in the tutorial thoughįirst, you are going to cut all your strips of tulle. I used some that was given to me by the bride that was already cut up. – A whole lot of tulle! I’m sorry, I don’t know the yardage used. I don’t have a tutorial for the top because it was made specifically for the little girl who wore it, but I’ll tell you how I made it after the tutu tutorial ) Let’s focus on all that puffiness for now. It’s been a LONG time since I pulled out my sewing machine and I’m not sure what I was doing, but it’s cute none the less, and I fixed it ) I was going off a picture I saw in a magazine a while back, but it just wasn’t working on a little girls frame, so rather than have the little ribbon loops I sewed button holes into the sides of the dress to cut out all that “extra” space between the lace and the actual bodice. She was a flower girl in a wedding, but it makes a pretty darn cute costume doesn’t it? I mean look at all that fluff!!īefore we get started I have to tell you though, I made some changes after I photographed this. I actually made this little dress for a friend’s daughter.
